Job Brief
Our Client, a Hotel in Lagos is seeking a General Manager
who would be responsible for managing the Hotels management team (HOD's) and
overall hotel targets to deliver an excellent Guest experience. You would be
required to manage between profitability and guest satisfaction measures.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned and highly intelligent
hotel professional with outstanding, management skills and extensive hands-on
experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee the operation
functions of the hotel, as per the Organizational chart.
2. Hold regular briefings
and meetings with all heads of departments.
3. Ensure full compliance to
Hotel operating controls, SOP’s, policies, procedures, and service standards.
4. Lead all key property
issues including capital projects, customer service, and refurbishment.
5. Handling complaints, and
oversee the service recovery procedures.
6. Responsible for the
preparation, presentation, and subsequent achievement of the hotel's annual
Operating Budget, Marketing & Sales Plan, and Capital Budget.
7. Manage on-going
profitability of the hotel, ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are
met and exceeded.
8. Ensure all decisions are
made in the best interest of the hotel and management.
9. Deliver hotel budget
goals and set other short and long-term strategic goals for the hotel.
10. Developing improvement actions, carry out cost
savings.
11. A strong understanding of P&L statements and
the ability to react with impactful strategies.
12. Closely monitor the hotels business reports on a
daily basis and take decisions accordingly.
13. Ensure that monthly financial outlook for
Rooms, Food & Beverage, Admin & General, are on target and accurate.
14. Maximizing room yield and hotels revenue through
innovative sales practices and yield management programs.
15. Prepare a monthly financial reporting for the
owners and stakeholders.
16. Draw up plans and budget (revenues, costs, etc.)
for the owners.
17. Helping in the procurement of operating supplies
and equipment, and contracting with third-party vendors for essential equipment
and services.
18. Act as a final decision maker in hiring key
staff.
19. Coordination with HOD's for the execution of all
activities and functions.
20. Overseeing and managing all departments and
working closely with department heads on a daily basis.
21. Manage and develop the Hotel Executive team to
ensure career progression and development.
22. Be accountable for the responsibilities of
department heads and take ownership of all guest complaints.
23. Provide effective leadership to the hotel team
members.
24. Lead in all aspects of business planning.
25. Respond to audits to ensure continuous improvement is achieved.
26. Corporate client handling and take part in new
client acquisition along with the sales team whenever required.
27. Responsible for safeguarding the quality of
operations (both internal & external audits).
28. Responsible for legalization, Occupational
Health & Safety Act, fire regulations, and other legal requirements.
Requirements
1. A Minimum of 10 to 15
years of experience in the hospitality industry
with significant luxury and
international experience and at least 5 to 7 years of experience as an
Assistant General Manager or Executive Assistant Manager.
2. Experience in opening, managing or
re-positioning a hotel with a clear track record.
3. Strong management skills; Ability to
appropriately assign or delegate work and authority to others in the accomplishment of goals and provide coaching,
advice, and assistance as required.
4. Available to work when needed,
including weekends, holidays, and nights.
5. Excellent written and communication
skills.
6. Excellent computer system skills.
7. Knowledge of hotel operating procedures.
8. Critical-thinking and problem-solving
skills.
9. A Bachelor’s degree in hotel
management or a related field.
10.Experience in financial accounting, personnel
supervision and problem resolutions will be added advantage.
11.Expatriate Preferably.
