Job Summary

  • Directly supervise the day-to-day operations of the publication, and reports to the editor in chief. 
  • Suggest ideas, assign articles, handle problems, keep staff on schedule and answer questions from department editors. 
  • Coordinate the newsroom and editorial processes. 
  • Ensure the editorial staff are in tune with news outbreak in their respective beats 
  • Coordinate the regular meetings of the editorial board 
  • Implement sanctions on reporters that violates media laws and ethical guidelines 
  • Creating and enforcing deadlines on editorial contents and publications 
  • Enforce the implementation of policies set by the Editor-in-Chief. 
  • Oversees news operations and opinion pages in the newspaper. 
  • Supervise the activities of different section editors 
  • Attend events on behalf of the company or editor in chief 
  • Oversee proofreading procedures and edit copy when necessary 
  • Plan and approve assignments for writers and editors 
  • Collaborate with editor

 

Educational Qualifications: First Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication or any field of study

 

Functional skill

  • Flawless management of the newsroom and day-to-day operation of publications.
  • Organizational full compliance with media law and ethical guidelines. 
  • Constitute a highly skilled editorial board and commence weekly meetings within 60days. 
  • Seamless implementation of policies set by the management 
  • Outstanding creativity, insight, and a positive, go-to attitude 
  • Excellent computer and social media management skill set

 

Total Years of Experience:  Minimum Twelve years’ work experience in the media industry, four of which should be as an editor.
