Senior Interior Architect

Male Senior Interior Architect to coordinate team of Interior Architects and work hand in hand with Project Manager in overseeing a major Interior Design project from inception to completion. Project duration is one year.

Candidate needs to have demonstrated a capacity for creativity, excellent technical ability/knowledge, as well as strong communication & management skills. Must be available for overtime or off hours as needed, regular working hours are 8:30a.m. to 5: 30p.m on work days.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs design and construction management skills during the project’s life cycle.
  • Prepares technical reports, progress reports, special studies, and cost estimates for the projects
  • Participates equitably in the development and implementation of the Division/project goals and objectives. Strives to achieve the goals of the organization for diversity and disadvantaged business enterprises participation.
  • Coordinates architectural design efforts with civil and MEP design and systems.
  • Manage document control - (Each document will have the name of the project, description, version)
  • Obtain a sign-off from the Creative Director on all drawings
  • Ensure all designs have full specification of materials, quantity, size, and colour in order for procurement to budget properly
  • Ensure all furniture descriptions are standardized and architects are aware of descriptions used by company
  • Ensure monitoring of site work carried out on weekends

RESPONSIBILITIES TO JUNIOR ARCHITECTS

·         Ensure a document control system according to company’s standard

·         Review all architects’ drawings

·         Check drawings with what is on site to ensure they match with the design to eradicate mistakes.

·         Record all architects’ errors; where, when and what also review with HR in your meeting

·         Ensure all documents are titled properly with the project name, date, and title of every document

·         Review all drawings in detail with specification

·         Designate projects to Architects

·         Review / verify site work with Junior Architect every week to ensure the project is going according to plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO CONTRACTORS

·         Receive all changes to the projects

·         Bill of Quantities must be gone through together with the contractor to know it all matches the approved design

·         Regular meetings with Contractor

·         Review, verify and comment on all variations (if it’s a variation from the client)

·         Give feedback to the contractor if there are changes to the variation

·         Notify contractors of document control updates as and when changes made.

·         Ensure contractor receives a signed copy (obtain proof of receipt and give to PM to document)

RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE VENDOR

·         Check the quality of work. This should be done at 2 different stages; at the beginning and before the finishing stage

·         Ensure all woodwork & upholstery are wrapped and properly packaged

·         All communication must be done via email. Verbal conversations must be clarified via email

RESPONSIBILITIES TO PROJECT MANAGER

·         Weekly meetings with the PM

·         Have site reports from the Junior Architects

·         Help with time-lines

·         Discuss potential delays from Company’s side or the contractors side and what the issues are

·         Ensure all drawings are approved signed off by Creative Director for upload central file storage system.

·         Ensure document control spreadsheet is updated

·         Ensure PM is aware of any changes (e.g. structural issues) that might affect cost and timelines

RESPONSIBILITIES TO HR

·         Weekly meetings to discuss staff performance, tools (if needed), right software etc.

·         Ideas on how to progress with work

·         Site logs (Sign in and sign out) at the end of the day

·         Issues on site

RESPONSIBILITY TO THE MANAGEMENT

·         Get sign offs on all drawings

·         Notify management of any delays or lags.

·         Notify management of any design issues 

Skills and Qualifications

·         B.Arch and M.Arch degree from a reputable University. 

·         Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities.

·         Knowledge of the office structure in a client/consultant business environment.

·         Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through to completion.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Experience in vendor relations & Contactor management

·         Attention to detail.

·         Excellent knowledge of sketch up, Revit, 3d max software
